“ I had the jerk chicken plate. Small. Nothing small here... 4 piece, rice and peas, plaintain( which was awesome, almost candy), slaw and a cup of sauce. Low on the salt, which is nice for a change. First timer.. definitely going for seconds.Everything tasted great. Two thumbs up! ”
“ Jamaican Home Style Cuisine... a hidden gem and the food was sooooo good!! We ordered curry lobster and jerk chicken dinner and both are so good! We came for a visit in Ottawa from Toronto and this is a must try place to eat if you are in Ottawa area! Aside from the delicious food, the staff are so friendly, facility is clean, reasonable price and you just got to try!!! ”
“ I wish I had taken the picture and video, but I scarfed it down as soon as I got home after smelling it in the car on the 40 minute ride home lol. I come from a family of very good cooks and some who even own restaurants so as a Caribbean, I must say I’m extremely picky when it comes to restaurants and how authentic or well the food is cooked. Jamaican homestyle cuisine restaurant Orleans has exceeded my expectations! -First of all, the biggest green flag is that the owner is not stingy with the gravy! Oxtail orders come with a side of gravy and he gives just the right amount to sop up his delicious coconut rice and peas. -Those Jamaican patties are heavenly. Father God I have never had a Jamaican patty so fluffy, flaky, succulent, and fresh. -Sweet fried plantains are perfect. Some restaurants will make it to oily but his come out just right and not too soft! This is THE MOST Authentic Jamaican restaurant in all of Ottawa. I see myself making the 40 minute many times in the future absolutely worth it absolutely delicious! ”
“ I ate here recently and really enjoyed the jerk chicken. While I got the sense this is mostly a takeout place, I sat at one of the two tables inside. Not only was the chicken delicious, the fried plantain, beans, and rice were good too. ”
“ Picked up three platters for dine in. The curry goat, the oxtail, and the fried chicken were all solid and very delicious (the group agreed that the chicken was the standout though). Patties were delicious as well. Rice was not too flavourful and the other sides were just okay. But otherwise, a very delicious meal. Only strikes against this place is just that the food takes a while to come out and they're debit/cash only. But otherwise, would absolutely order here again. ”
“ I came here May 10th 2024, and got the oxtail. Although admittedly I’m quite new to carribean cuisine, this has easily been the best I’ve ever had. Not only were the portions amazing value (bowl was roughly 11” in diameter), it tasted fantastic too. I can’t speak to the authenticity, but I was blown away at how such simple flavors were able to complement each other. Additionally, the ratio of oxtail to sides was fantastic. I’ll absolutely be back! ”
“ I stopped by at lunch and ordered the oxtail plate to go. I love oxtail and this was delicious - fall off the bone, savoury, and saucy. I love that it was served with rice and peas, plantain and vegetables for a more rounded platter (as some places only serve it with rice and peas and more starch, no veg). Everything was super tasty, well seasoned, well cooked. A fabulous Caribbean/Jamaican restaurant worth visiting. The cashier clerk was also super friendly, personable and courteous. ”
“ I decided to go with a staple and order Jerk chicken for my first time trying this Caribbean joint. Not only where they very accommodating by allowing come in a little early prior to the officials opening to fetch lunch, the food was delicious. Definitely satisfied my craving. The cowgirl was amazing on its own - I used the provided cup of gravy to mix with the rice& beans and wow. So good. The plantains were ripe and perfectly prepared, the macaroni was a welcome addition that I'd never had in a Caribbean platter such as this, The coleslaw had this very tasty style sweetness I loved, though the portion want very generous. Overall, it was a solid lunch that I thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks! I've since gone back and tried the oxtail. It was great, but the plantains were nowhere near as good this time around, unfortunately. ”
